Interesting titbits

The initial toolkit and stencil was produced in a rush to coincide with the United Nations #16 days of Activism in 2014,

I often wondered after,  if the use of the female toilet symbol was a good choice as it stereotyped visual perceptions of women.

A few weeks ago I came across this initiative, It was never a dress, which brilliantly subverts the use of the symbol.

So I now know that all the little toilet women are really super women ! (Which of course we all knew anyway!)

I wish I'd thought of this

I'd wish I'd thought of this idea and if I had it wouldn't have been staged.

Although this has been proven to clearly staged,  the concept behind this video was incredibly effective.  A TV crew allegedly identified men that were street harassers of women.  They they got their mothers to dress so their sons would not recognize them, then when they passed their sons in the street, the sons harassed them verbally.  Their reactions were wonderful.  It's a good use of how humour can be utilised in activism.
